An overall good product.
Fitting can be tricky, and facial features (large or small nose - long or flat head) really influence size decision. Try on a size in store if at all possible.
I would recommend to anyone having problems fitting their mask to experiment with it at home, until you can get it fitted without any leaking and pain (particularly on the nose bridge).
I have found after trial and error that fitting works best if one really jams the metal part high up the nose bridge, almost in between the eyes, while looking up, and then fastening the straps while putting your chin horizontal again.
Molding the metal, think about the metal as some sort of laundry pin that doesn’t pinch your nose, but rests the mask into your orbital bone sockets. The mask should not slide off your nose when moving the head around and it shouldn’t hurt anywhere. (all of this is *just advice* of course, you can do whatever!)
Performance wise; the mask does make a tremendous difference when confronted to dust particles and heavy traffic pollution. My lungs used to ache during “asian dust” season, in South Korea, and now I do not cough phlegm anymore.
However, I can still smell tobacco and heavy exhaust fumes, although very mildly (I expect this to be normal - it isn’t a gas mask after all).
I occasionally run or exercise with my mask on, and I have found it to perform very well for that purpose. The valves do fog up after an extended period of panting, but they WORK. Water does not accumulate in the breathing area, and after use, a good shake gets rid of all the humidity droplets on the outside.
My only concern is with the velcro strap; which seems to me like the most likely part to fail first… Perhaps a design with a non-velcro, more durable adjustable fixation would be a + ? It could also be an idea to ad an option for a second, perhaps removable strap, that would attack behind the top of the head to complement the “base of the skull” one.
The other potential improvement I could envision, would be an intermediate size between M and L, as there is too much of a gap between the two size, and for many a “M” an M feels like an S… Yet an L is too big.
Anyway, I’m sold and I have recommend your product to some colleagues.
Good job respro.
RESPRO’NSE: “Thanks for taking the time to write a review. We are happy to hear your mask is doing its job. Thank you for your suggestions on improvements, these will go to our design team. For smells, why not try our chemical particle filters! You will notice a BIG difference”
