Would you like a lighter mask for the hot, summer months? If your filters and valves are still fresh, then no need to buy the whole mask again, just buy the new Ultralight™mask shell.

The Ultralight™mask shell is a 4-way stretch, air permeable (allows air to pass) technical fabric that allows the face to breathe in hot and humid conditions. This replacement shell comes with a choice of metal nose clip or a plastic nose clip, three different colours and four sizes. It has a secure velcro neck fastener to ensure a good seal around your face.

Note: All Respro® mask shells are interchangeable with all filters. Make sure you match the correct size: For example a medium sized mask works with a medium sized filter

What a great idea- cooler, more breathable. But, um, it’s supposed to be for when it’s hot. Why on earth did they cook black and army green as the only two colours? I don’t want dark colours in summer! I’ll stick with my allergy mask for now, but it would be lovely if you had lighter colours.

RESPRO’NSE:” Thanks for your feedback. We are introducing a ‘sand’ colour to the Ultra-light range very soon. Watch this space!!”

I commute to work around London on a motorbike. I almost wish I hadn’t bought one of these filters as now I can see the particles that were once going into my lungs. Great piece of kit for the motorcyclist commuter as it is light yet functional, fits under the chin section on my flip lid and doesn’t add any time to the morning kit up ritual as it is so easy to get on and off. The only slight niggle is that when you pull the filter down to talk to someone (paying for fuel, explaingin to police why you were doing that speed etc) the filter moves out of position when you put it back. I’ve bought a pro-seal to rectiify that and upgraded the filter to the techno. Otherwise a perfect motorbike mask.

RESPRO’NSE: Thanks for your comment. We look forward to hearing how you get on with the Proseal

I’ve used a Techno mask shell + Techno filter for over 2 years, bought directly from Respro 5 years ago, until one of the straps gave out (the neoprene aged and snapped). I was excited about the Ultralight mask shell new build and valves and I bought one from a local store together with a Pro-seal polymer seal. Sadly, I found the the seal was actually creating large ingress zones under the nose bridge, as I felt the air blowing in my eyes from below when exhaling (I masked the valves with my hands for a proper test). Without the seal, the mask actually fits better on the face and those ingress zones are almost gone… almost. The problem, as I see it, in both cases (with seal and without) is the fact that the nose tab for this mask variant is no longer metallic, it’s plastic. So I tried in vain to perfect the seal around my nose by bending the tab as I did for my previous Techno mask, only to find that it was a useless exercise. How did you arrive at the conclusion that the tab should no longer be metallic for this particular mask? The new design prevents an acceptable seal. As such, I can only give it 3 stars.

RESPRO’NSE: “We appreciate that our masks are not bespoke but they do conform to specific data for heads. This allow us to get within a range of adult head sizes so that our masks can fit according to EC regulations for industry. Usually, if there is an issue regarding size or fit, the client contacts Respro® Customer Services Team to discuss the problems and to find a possible solution. Had you contacted us first, we would have been able to provide a mask shell with a metal nose clip to be fitted to an Ultralight mask shell (this is an option on our website). The reason we have two types of nose clip is so that we can broaden the scope of the mask to cover different nose shapes and sizes across the globe. If you would like to contact customer services with regards to your issue then I’m sure they will be able to offer an alternative to your current situation.”

I ordered my Ultralight in 2017 and have loved it since day 1. It has come in very handy over the past year especially but is also ideal for daily commutes and urban air. Very comfortable fit, I am a fan of the plastic nose clip and the fact that it wraps around to tie at the back of your head instead of annoying ear loops. Will order again. Definitely recommend!
