Today I arrived in North China–the air is so bad that I cannot even see across the street. The smell of chemicals and dust is very thick in the air and many people outside were coughing severely. I am very happy to say though, that with my Techno Mask™, I couldn’t taste or smell the pollution at all and I didn’t even cough once–this is a lifesaver! Please pass my thanks along to the team at Respro® for inventing this product!
I’ve just picked it up from the post and tried it on. The quality is superb and it works very well indeed! Compared to my previous mask it feels like I’m upgrading from a Lada to a Mercedes Benz! I’ll definitely recommend this product to all my friends and family.
“The only problem I have is the fact that the material stretches out and does not stand up well to putting your motorcycle helmet on and taking it off over time
As far as keeping the bad stuff out of your lungs, very happy with that.”

I ordered a XL size Techno mask online recently. Later, I found that I ordered the wrong size therefore I sent an email to Respro to change my order to L size. However it was 1 day too late, the mask had been posted out. Respro Customer Service advised me to try first to see wither it could fit because there is 10% difference only between L & XL size.
I tried it out after I received the XL size mask, unfortunately my chin was not fully covered. Customer Service asked me to send them photo to see wither I was wearing the mask correctly.
I am very happy with Respro Customer Service because after they saw my photos of me wearing my XL mask, they sent me a new L size mask free of charge. Thanks to Respro again for good services and good product.

I am a fire performer, I combine kung fu dance and fire and create shows for all sorts of events. I have been wearing Respro techno masks for the past 5 years and my lungs feel great. I watch other performers coughing an inhaling so many fumes but with my Techno mask I could perform for hours and still breath and keep my breath for my shows. I always wear my mask and everybody always comments on how cool they look. Type into google Energy Entertainments and watch my shows I will always be wearing the mask. Big thanks to Respro for keeping my lungs clean.

Respro-nse: “Thanks for the feedback Neal. Happy to hear the mask is doing the job”.
I am 58 years old and have developed multiple chemical sensitivities. I purchased a black Techno mask at the Rehab shop in Chilliwack BC and it has greatly improved my life. I can now shop almost anywhere I want, attend a limited number of social functions and spend limited time in town, athough I will never live the life that I did before. I am very very grateful for the opportunities that the Techno mask has given me. Thank you!
I ordered a Techno mask a few weeks ago, the pollution in Paris being worse than ever recently - results are impressive. No more pollution asthma! I first ordered it for cycling but ended up wearing it as soon as I put a foot outside.
(bonus: having ordered the red mask, kids think I look like Spiderman.)
I’ve been using the Techno mask for more than an year. I’ve been using it while cycling in the city and while riding my KTM on the dusty hills. So far I’m very pleased with it. You can really feel the difference and now I don’t care when I see a diesel car in front of me while I go up the hill . The only criticism I have is that for some reason I can’t breathe on my nose while wearing the mask.
Respro’sne: “Great to hear the positive feedback. Two wheels rock!! Wear the mask on the bridge of your nose, not the soft tissue. This will allow you to breath normally”
I have the city mask and used for several months, and now I have the Techno. Are both good products, easy to use, good for health .!!! I am using every day while I use my motorcycle in the city. Thank you.
The mask provides a dual purpose. San Francisco Weather is cold and wet and the mask helps keep wind chill from my face while allowing me to not breath in all the area dust and pollution. After a few weeks using the mask I noticed that my breathing was better. I didn’t have a sore throat when arriving to work on my bike. This was a very good investment for me, glad I bought it after seeing the mask used in London.
Love these masks. They can be a bit finicky to fit right, and I’m fairly sure I haven’t still gotten it quite right, but I’ve used these camping, urban exploring, running, biking, wood working, painting, etc. It really makes a difference and it’s great that it can be so comfortable. But yeah don’t skimp on getting the right fit!
Thanks to the Respro, I’m able to survive more situations without pollution induced asthma attacks. It was indispensable while I was in Japan. It was Spring time and there was loads of agricultural smoke in the countryside, and in the cities, loads of indoor cigarette smoke wherever we went. The Japanese were clearly envious that a Westerner had a cooler face mask than their own (face masks are trendy there for various reasons). Back home I always have it on hand while riding public transit and there’s a woman who unloaded an entire bottle of perfume on herself, or in the subway where all the new materials in the subway cars are off-gassing like crazy with poor ventilation.
It totally works for relieving temporary situations. It’s truly an amazing, wonderful, product, but it’s not without its downsides. It does take some effort to breathe through it, and while the Techno is not designed for heavy breathing activities, but rather more powerful filtration, that’s to be expected. Trying to sleep with it on (in a cigarette smoke laden (smoke free) hotel room) was really difficult because of the effort - not that Respro recommends that, but it was an unavoidable situation. I was actually really hoping it would be a solution for me since some hotels use so much artificial fragrance that is is suffocating. The fit is mostly good, but the strap design creates some downward force on top of my nose which can go from uncomfortable to restricting airflow through my nose, despite trying to position the straps at all angles, and different angles of attachment.
Despite the cons, this is such a great product for me to have, I still consider it a 5 star product.
My name is Aric. I am a firefighter and live and work in the San Francisco bay area. I first bought Respro to help with wildland fire respiratory protection. I soon found it was useful in almost every aspect of my job. In structure fires when the fire is out and everything appears clear off gassing of carbon monoxide and other very dangerous toxins continue. During a medical call it is reassuring to know protection from microbes and atomized tissue is on your side.
Very pleased, I have RADs from an industrial accident. Now the Mask has allowed me to leave my home and venture out into public. All chemical odors cause my lungs to fill with fluid. The MASK blocks most of the odors.
The catastrophe at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant, Tokyo I live in is heavily polluted to radioactivity. It purchased a mask in order to avoid even a little exposure to inhaling radioactive material. Air pollution has been a problem in Japan, but the government does not admit the pollution damage caused by radioactive material at all. Each person I have to self-defense is us. If you would compared to the N95 mask, it is not a performance never enough, but in bike commuting daily, it is a required item. Thank you very much. RESPRO
very good, durable and a high quality on everyday use, changing the filters, I have almost 2 years, and still works like new one!
Very good for city traffic
I can not live without these Masks for bicycle riding, been using for years and I have used 3 models. Each time the Masks are better.
With all the pollution with cars and bus’s I get sick straight away, when I used the mask all this stopped and the air is perfect - no more nausea or Bad headaches.
In the cold weather they double up with warmth, in summer the air is not so hot coming into mouth.
Even in crowded areas and smells are strong and overbearing, the Mask filters out all this and the air is perfect.
Only Problem is… That I want to wear one All the time, everywhere..
But I would look funny walking in the supermarket with one on.
People will think I am Michael Jackson
Well Done and Thank you
I have been in Shanghai for one year and I am dependent on the mask for all outdoor activities, it’s a great! I use it for all outdoor activities and would be lost without.
Overall good product. When used under a full motorbike helmet it causes condensation in the spectacles or visor; my guess is that a larger valve could help. The filter only lasts about a month, although it can be washed to extend its life. It would be great to have a long life reusable filter. Often, filter hair get into your nose and are quite itchy.
RESPRO’NSE: ” Hi Victor, I contacted our Customer Services about this and they would be interested to know is the condensation on the inside or the outside of your spectacles?”
Bought this a year ago, as I live in Beijing where the pollution, at least in winter, is horrendous.
My respro mask is excellent; the only quibble is that it took me a while to realize that the metal nose-piece needs to be very open for a comfortable fit.
RESPRO"NSE: “Of course it depends on the size of your nose. Broader flatter noses need the nose clip flatter then stronger higher noses. The main point about a nose clip is to wear it on the bridge of the nose, not the soft tissue”
Although a little uncomfortable to begin with over the nose, and also because it can slip down and so I need to keep trying to move it into the right place, this mask has helped me to breathe in levels of 721 PM2.5 in China, and without it my health would have been seriously affected by now. Thank you for this lifesaving product.
A life-saver on Nairobi’s polluted streets - except for a bad fit under the chin which lets unfiltered air in.
RESPRO’NSE: ” Dont hesitate to contact our customer services if you have concerns about fit.”
I use this mask and find it is the best I have ever owned. A Serious mask that lasts and can be serviced with ease.
I would rate it as the best on the market.
I am happy with this mask. It is warm (neoprene always is) but that is fine for the colder months. The fit is good and creates a nice seal around my jaw for breathing.
I am very happy with the filters in this mask, you can really tell (and smell) the difference when using them. They really shine when some Diesel-motorist puts their foot down at a green light and you have to go through their cloud of exhaust dust. Nice.
I will be buying a lighter version for the warmer months as I want to use these more.
It would be useful to know when to replace the filter (every x km or every x days).
RESPRO’NSE: The life span of the filter is based on a cyclist commuting in the city, half hour journey to work, half hour back. Given this, at the end of each month the filter should be changed.
This type of mask is still effective. But as in previous masks I’ve used, I fear that little piece of metal on top of the mask folds and eventually break.
RESPRO’NSE: All our products are guaranteed. Please contact customer service if your nose clip breaks and they will replace it for you free of charge”
The first time I replaced the filter, I was shocked to see the filter had become dark on the outside because of soot particles. I’m glad these particles are absorbed by the filter, not by my lungs. Also, I do not cough anymore after each ride during summer thanks to it’s ozone filtering capacity. Great mask!
The mask works perfect! The only comment is price, which could be lower, especially for additional filters.
And you should also include some fresh design.
RESPRO’NSE: Skins range imminent! Watch this space!
The Techno mask is a lifesaver. I’ve used mine while motorbiking and bicycling in Hanoi, Hue, and Ho Chi Minh City, as well as in my hometown in the US, which has a big PM 2.5 problem every winter thanks to inversions. In all cases, the mask breathes well, filters out the nasty stuff, and keeps me from feeling like I’ve been sucking on a tailpipe. I recommend it without reservation.
Excellent! High endurance and Good performance. I can’t think of a city ride without my techno mask. On the other hand, standard sizes of masks don’t fit perfectly “for everybody” (in some cases)
I love this product. I work in Afghanistan and this mask protects me from breathing in all the toxins and filth in the air. You can clearly see what the filter stops from going through.
I have been using this mask for about 10 weeks now and I am VERY SATISFIED though I was quite skeptical and it took me a long time -and several waves of pollution peak- to order this mask.
At the beginning, I felt terrible: I had the feeling I was going to suffocate (I am a former asthmatic) and the nose-clip hurt me a lot. Yet, as I was also aware that the air I was breathing was wholly different than what I was used to, I did not put my Techno Mask aside.
After a couple of days, I understood I would wear the mask too tight and relaxed it, and it felt perfect.
Nowadays I never ride my bike without the mask on my face. One has to admit that one gets damp when it is warm outside but it is a REAL PLEASURE to ride into the heavy traffic, even when behind a bus.
Concerning women wearing makeup, they might want to take some into their bag…
A 41-years-old one woman who fought cancer 2.5 years ago and does not want to start the whole process again.
Nice mask. Works great cutting out pollution particles. Disappointed
with the fit. The more I wear it, the more I don’t like. The nose piece is a soft metal used to form over the bridge of the nose. I got a decent fit, but it gets bent out shape every time I store it after use. The mask itself fits awkward on/over the chin. The back strap does not fit well, going under the ear, it pulls the front down on to the nose. This slight pressure tends to congests my nose after riding 10 miles to work. After a short period of time, the walls of the mask collapse against the face. Not nice in 85 degree weather or above.
Overall, great for cutting bus,car pollution, disappointing with the fit, so a rating of 4.
RESPRO"NSE: ” Great to hear the mask is doing its job keeping the pollution out. For future reference, we do offer sizing advice if you have any questions about fit before purchase.”
This mask is a life saver for the pollution in Kathmandu. I wear it constantly and have a radical reduction in problems with my asthma, not to mention getting colds from the bad air. I have also used it in Tanzania and other places where urban (and sometimes rural!) air pollution is bad. With the new sport values, it is possible to bike comfortably with it on. Definitely required equipment for anyone working in the developing world.
I’ve used your products since 1991 (I think it’s that long a go?), and have never once changed my mind about them - they’re great. If there’s ever a moment I don’t happen to have the mask on, I’m instantly reminded why I wear it - the stink.
The mask is all right nevertheless I can still smell the exhaust pipes gases.
RESPRO’NSE: “Make sure you have the mask placed correctly on the bridge of your nose and that you are wearing the correct size for your face. This will make for a better seal and therefore less air getting in”
The mask has a good fitting and breathing, but the Velcro solution can damage the neck of a jacket.
RESPRO’NSE: “Thanks for your review Lacopo. Why not try placing the hook and the loop velcro fastening directly on top of each other. If one side is not correctly attached it will rub on your clothing”
Good product! Great at filtering out the dust while riding on the roads.
Just wish that the straps attached higher on the back of my head. It would help to keep the mask in place higher. Now the straps attach at the base of my skull and it tends to make the mask slip downwards a little bit.
Also, might want to consider alternative sizing for Asians, as our proportions are probably a little different from Caucasians. Not that the product doesn’t fit well, but things could be a little closer.
But overall, very happy with the mask.
RESPRO’NSE:” Thanks for your review. The Respro® Mask was originally designed with a neck strap for ease of fastening and should sit in the nape of the neck. Twenty years on we find its still the best method of attachment. Regarding different shaped faces, the nose clip is made from aluminium and is designed to be formed to suit a variety of nose shapes, from broad/flat to high bridged.”
My mask is not among the most comfortable accessories I wear, but I miss it every time I don’t take it with me, in my daily city commutes.
The first impression was I couldn’t breathe in it, especially when riding fast. I borrowed it to a friend that had to take it off definitively after a few hundred meters, for the same reason. The following day I adjusted it a little more on the nose, went moderate on the pedals and I was ok.
Good to know, it does not seal hermetically so it does not take away all the fumes from the traffic, but it’s a reasonable filter.
The most evident difference I got was when I went out without it, and immediately felt the exhaust gases that I kind of ignored before buying it.
In the winter a little bit more inconvenient with clogged nostrils, in the summer a little bit sweaty underneath, but that’s it, we’re good together. And it looks interesting too, makes you feel in the traffic like a green warrior or something…
The hook-and-loop tape often gets stuck in clothes. Another way to fasten the mask would be better (although I could not tell you what that would be, magnets perhaps? the hooks like with a bra might look a bit too strange I am afraid ...)
It is a bit difficult to breath and with the mask it is very sweaty. The valve could work better to make it more comfortable. I am using the mask in Beijing - so it is often warm when the air gets bad and I need your mask.
Fitting the mast around the mouth/nose is sometimes a bit tricky - I feel it is not perfectly fitting. So I have to fiddle around and adjust. Not too comfy! This is also connected with the locking system.
I found the mask a bit disturbing so I wear it less often then I should taken into consideration the air quality!!
RESPRO’NSE: “Have a look at our new Skins Designs (for look and style) and contact our customers services team who will advise you on fit”
Bought the Techno mask for visits to Beijing and Tanggu in China to deal with the smog as I have asthma - it is fantastic! I’m not going to lie, I get laughed at a lot for wearing it as the locals believe the heavy chemical smog hanging in the air is just fog but if I take it off even for an hour outside I start coughing and my throat feels red raw.
Highly recommend it, especially if you’re travelling to areas with high pollution.
Thank you for great service. However, I find the mask too difficult too breathe and am not using it except in very dusty conditions. Also too much sweating. Adjustment to face is ok, not easy, but ok.
RESPRO’NSE: “Thank you for your comment Ed. We are sorry to hear you are finding it difficult to breathe through your Techno Mask. Like most new things, masks take a while to get used to wearing. The more you use it, the more comfortable it becomes. Also, if your breathing rates are elevated for periods of time, you may consider upgrading the valves on your mask to our new POWA Elite valves which are designed for sports people in mind” http://respro.com/store/product/powa-elite-valve-pack
I am very satisfied
I live in the United States US. and on my last order I ordered two new filers for my Techno mask and only received one filter. Can you make this right. Thanks for your attention on this matter. PS I have Reactive Airway Disorder and your product as been a God sent. I can now leave my home without fear on having a reaction due to pollution in the air. Thanks again
RESPRON’SE: ” Donald, thanks for bringing this to our attention. Our warehouse has been informed and will be in contact with you directly”
Hello, this mask is so great!... It really does it job and protects me! I only have an issue with the size: as I’m very tinny, it doesn’t fit me (M size) so I need to attach it on the top of my head to get it on my skin and breathe filtered air. I would really need a S size, please create it for all of us who are small and also for children! Thanks!...
RESPRO’NSE: “Thanks Sandra. Glad to hear the mask is working for you. Watch this space for smaller masks for kids coming soon to Respro”
Glad I found you!
After lot of research (...), I am satisfied with your product, I highly recommend !!
RESPRO’NSE: “Thank you”
Wonderful product: functional, comfortable and aesthetic. I also use it in concerts against cigar smoke.
I’ve been using my mask on and off for nearly a year and it’s done a great job keeping the pollution out of my lungs. I’ve recently started wearing it again to keep the icy weather of my face while cycling, though I’ve run into a problem. As soon as I get up to speed my eyes start watering. This happens exclusively when I’m wearing my mask whether or not I’m wearing my glasses, too. I believe the mask fits fine but it seems to be sending air into my eyes which is a massive bother as I’ve got the temptation to wipe them frequently while riding.
Could anyone at Respro give me some advice on remedying this?
RESPRONSE:“Callum, please put your glasses on after you put on your mask. Also make sure the nose clip is sitting firmly on the bridge of your nose. Try to avoid wearing hard plastic rimmed glasses as these have no give or flexibility around the nose area”
Just ordered this mask before the massive inversion hit us here in Salt Lake City. UT.
We constantly get some of the worst air in the country, and sometimes the world on the extremely bad days. You can google ‘utah bad air’ and you will see what I’m talking about. I ordered the Techno mask, and it’s absolutely amazing. I can walk around outside and not smell or taste any of the pollution stricken air. It’s a life saver. My wife just ordered one too!
RESPRO’NSE: “Excellent news Erik! Utah has been on the Respro® radar for sometime now. The air may be polluted there but you don’t have to be.Good choice of mask!”
Do you have any S size masks? The smallest size we can select is middle. My girlfriend need a small size one. Thank you!
I have been using techno masks for years now. I am cycling almost everyday in Paris but I think I would have stopped if I hadn’t the mask. Before I used to hold my breath before entering a smog of pollution but combined with the effort it felt like I was drowning. Now I breathe regularly which improved my performances as I feel protected from traffic pollution. Besides, the mask is also an excellent protection for your face against cold weather and sun burn
RESPRO’NSE: “Cheers Alex! Great to hear that you are making the most of your mask while riding in the heavily polluted streets. Paris, like London, can be a cyclist worst nightmare. Keep up the good work and happy cycling”
I have multiple chemical sensitivity and migraine disease—which is why I purchased this item. I need something I can wear “hands free” over my nose/mouth to prevent me from inhaling others’ perfumes, new carpet odors, and cleaning residue in the office building I work in.
My only complaint about this mask is that it smells strange (like a tire warehouse), and because of that I cannot wear it for more than 10 minutes at a time before I start getting nauseous from this odor. Have tried leaving it out in the open to “air it out” but doesn’t seem to be very effective. So, I find I am still having to carry around my handkerchief!
RESPRO’NSE: “Roxane, thank you for your review. For any residual smell that might be on the mask we suggest you wash the shell (not the filter) in your normal washing procedure. The filter can be soaked in a pan of boiling water and then left to dry. This will solve the problem and you will be able to wear your mask again”
I’m 90kg, 190cm. According to the table I’m totally for XL. But when I got the mask, well, it’s enormous. I only manage to fix it to the top of my head, with handles above the ears. I think that even M will fit me. Better don’t trust the table and contact customer care in all cases.
I have a rare chronic condition called Irritable Larynx Syndrome (similar to RADS), which causes my throat to close up if I am exposed to levels of air pollution that most other people would consider “normal”. Being exposed to a chemical in 2010 didn’t help, and I was house-bound with little hope of living a normal life until I found Respro.
With my Techno mask I’m able to traverse even the more polluted areas of my city without issue. Finally I can get a normal job and I have a chance at having a future again.
RESPRO’NSE: ” Peter, thanks so much for taking the time to write. Stories like yours make our job all the more worth while”
I didn’t know when I arrived in Taichung, Taiwan that the air pollution was going to be so bad. We do have the dubious honour of hosting the world’s largest coal-fired power plant blasting its pollutants into our lungs. Soon after beginning to cycle to work I developed a very bad cough, despite using a variety of readily-available masks.
As soon as I started researching better options I came across Respro and tracked down a supplier. Without my Techno I’d honestly not be able to cycle to work at all. The pollution is so severe that I’m already planning to move to cleaner climes but the Respro will still accompany me.
I learned about RESPRO after a stay in hospital early this year. I have been dealing with worsening asthma for a few years. My work place is in an industrial area with a cement plant that transfers cement from rail road cars to silos then to semi trucks for transport. South of that is and old landfill that is arid and dusty. There is usually northerly breeze that comes right into the shop where I work.
I used a less expensive mask as a test for use in my work. I found that this was the type mask for me. I purchased the techno mask because its fine particle filtration. It is so much better than the one used for the test. Easy on and off with a great fit. I highly recommend a RESPRO mask to anyone that works or lives in a dusty environment or southwest dessert . I plan on ordering 1 or 2 more in the future for home and my truck. This is the BEST prevention investment for my breathing health I feel I can make.
I got this mask for allergy relief while I’m out and about walking the dogs and such. I get my fair share of weird looks living in a little town in the middle of the Alps, but the mask really makes the difference. I can finally go out in nature to walk and hike without having to worry about the pollen making my life miserable. The mask is not the easiest fit, even following the instructions for now it’s still a bit of hit and miss. Sometimes it fits comfortably, some other times the metal clasp just slide down my nose, doesn’t matter what I do, and close it up, but I guess more than anything else is a matter of keep on using it and finding the little adjustments that one needs to make it fit good. Even in the best days I think that wearing it for more than two hours or so, at least while hiking and moving around, would start to be really uncomfortable, but I still have to put it to test.
RESPRO’NSE: Great to hear that the mask is working well for you. You are right regarding testing and trying what’s the most comfortable position for you while wearing your mask. Everyone has different head shapes/types and it does take a while to adjust to hearing a mask. But as you say the benefits are there already. Please see our youtube channel ‘respromasks’ for videos on correct placement and other mask related instructional videos.
